Kickstarter: Interesting Projects. Or, Ways to Spend More Money

I’ve been on a Kickstarter run lately, and I’ve been fascinated at how many great projects there are out there.

So, in order to get a few of them some more exposure, and to help you spend more of your hard earned money on games, I’m to be compiling lists of projects that I find interesting, and worth funding.

I myself may not fund all the projects I discover, but this article series will focus on the ones that have piqued my interest, and might find an audience with some of our readership.

I have backed some of these myself, and others I’m currently just watching.

By clicking on the title of the game, it will open a link to the Kickstarter project page.

Xia: Legends of a Drift

This is a space ship sand box game with a huge number of paths to victory; do you want to be a Space Merchant? Smuggler? Bounty Hunter? All of these are viable paths to winning the game, and there’s even more.
This project is already funded, and it’s all stretch goals for the rest of the 2 weeks left in the campaign. Plus, it’s pre-painted spacships that you customize as the game goes on!

Raging Heroes: The Toughest Girls of the Galaxy

Who doesn’t love Sexy Miniature Women? Not only that, not a single one is in a Chainmail Bikini, nor do they have their boobs hanging out all over the place.
This project funded in the first 30 seconds, and already over $250k in less than a day. I can see why; these are some sexy miniatures. It’s all stretch goals for the next 30 days of the project.

Princes of the Dragon Throne

This is an area control Eurogame with a fantasy theme….and tons of miniatures. You can also order wooden meeples for an added cost in case you want a more euro feel for the game.
This project still has a ways to go before it gets funded, and no KS exclusives at all. It still looks very interesting regardless.

Guardians Chronicles

This is a superhero semi co-op board game. I’ve been watching this one with morbid fascination since it started. I love me some superheroes for one. But, the completionist pledge at $160 is really turning me sour. It looks all right, but I’m still a bit wary of tossing my hat into the ring, as I wouldn’t want to pledge less than the full $160. There’s still time to decide, however.
It’s funded and the first couple of stretch goals are met, with a couple weeks still left in the campaign.

Road/Kill Ultimate Car Combat

This is a Mad Max style car combat miniatures game along the same lines of Car Wars. Who doesn’t love some custom car building, smash ’em up road kill style racing games? It’s a full on miniatures game, with fully customizable miniature cars! I loved Car Wars, and the fact that this game has actual miniatures…well, it’s a tough one to pass up. It’s also created by one of the authors of Skull Island Expeditions.

It has a pretty lofty goal, but when you see the miniatures, you’ll know why. 24 days still to go.

Euphoria: Build a Better Dystopia

This game is a city builder set in a dystopian future. It’s a euro with a really cool theme. Plus, it’s really cheap. $50 for the game and stretch goals shipped almost anywhere….no brainer. There are several roles to choose from, and the asymmetrical aspect has me really loving the game play here.

This project is well over their goal with 7 days to go. A bunch of stretch rewards unlocked already, and more to come I’m sure.

If you have any Kickstarter projects that I should know about, or that need some more exposure, feel free to add them in the comments. I’ll keep adding more to this series as I discover more exciting Kickstarter projects people should know about!
